Welcome to The Emphasis ProjectThe Emphasis Project offers, both, a holistic treatment approach in developing Listening, Language, and Learning skills as well as a collaborative of carefully selected professionals and services supporting the full scope of presenting needs in the family and child. A merger of Speech-Language Pathology, Neuroscience, & Mental Health.
Shifting the "Emphasis" of traditional Speech-Language Therapy to family-centered lifestyles of learning. To treating the root rather than the symptoms. To treating the whole child rather than the diagnosis. To addressing the needs of the whole family rather than just the child. A "Project" that's pioneering a different way. |

Speech-Language Therapy Outside the Box

Our brains were designed to work integratively and systematically. Holistically. Yet traditional therapy supports are often quite cookie cutter in application. Therapies in a box, if you will. We tend to put talking and listening in boxes alongside writing and walking (SLP, OT, and PT). Another box covers learning and thinking (academia and special education). Reading often gets a box all to itself. And tucked away behind all of those you might find a box for behavior and emotion, yet few will open it and its contents are often misunderstood.
The sad reality is, this often results in a conglomerate of expensive and time-consuming "bandaids" yielding poor functional application and limited longitudinal benefit. Translation, children in therapy and special education services for years and years as root causes go unaddressed and integrative support measures remain ignored. All while the emotional needs of the families and caregivers of these children rarely garner consideration in the equation of establishing best practice...

...Optimal child development doesn't work like that.
Optimal family dynamics don't work like that.
Neither does The Emphasis Project.
